European Youth Championship is organized since 1972. Until 2004 it took place every second year. 2004 in Ausburg was also a year when Latvian team first time participated. Debut was very successful, Jurijs Volčeks earned bronze medal in Masters. The most successful period for Latvian team was from 2008 – 2011 when our young players surprised everybody by taking 21(!) medal (3 gold, 10 silvers and 8 bronze) and making 15 new record scores. Artūrs Ļevikins still holds most medals in boy’s division – 11 medals (2 gold, 5 silvers, 4 bronze).

Despite little experience in such championships, we have got quite a success, mainly thanks to contribution of Sid Allen, one of the most famous coaches in the world.

Riga already has been holding several international bowling competitions, among those AMF World Cup (2002), European Champion’s Cup (2006) and European Women’s Championship (2010).

Now it is time for European Youth Championship in 2019!
